Allen County Open Llama Show 06/01/2019 – 06/02/2019, 07:30 AM The Allen County Open Llama Show is scheduled at the Allen County Fair Grounds at 2726 Carroll Rd in Fort Wayne, IN on June 1 and 2. Doors open at 7:30am and continues all day. Admission to the show is free. Concessions are available. There will be a silent auction, but bidders must be present when bidding closes at Noon on Sunday, to pay for and claim their items. We are an International Llama Registry – Show Division (ILR-SD), Alpaca Llama Show Association (ALSA) sanctioned show that supports the Allen County Llama Lovers, the 4-H Llama program in Allen County, Indiana. The 4-H Llama Lovers program teaches children from elementary school through high school following the guidelines of the National 4-H Program, an expansive network reaching every corner of the country, locally, through the Purdue Extension Office at Purdue University Fort Wayne. 4-H is the nation’s largest youth development organization. 4-H youth in various neighborhoods, schoolyards and rural farming communities stand out among their peers: building revolutionary opportunities and implementing community-wide change at an early age. 4-H fosters an innovative, “learn by doing” approach with proven results. The Llama program has participated in the Allen County Fair for 30 plus years giving the kids in the program the opportunity to display all they have learned. This show is part of the fund-raising effort of our 4-H Program participants and volunteers to raise $200,000 to build a barn on the Allen County Fairgrounds to replace the sandlot & tent we’ve had to use from the very beginning of the program until now. All other animals shown during the county fair, are displayed in and shown from a barn. For more information call Barb Thuma at 260.481.6826.
