In 1976, A Christian radio station began in Fort Wayne, Indiana, under the ownership of then Fort Wayne Bible College. What started as an 18-hour-a-day station with 2 full-time employees has grown to a ministry of over 25 employees, broadcasting the love and hope of Jesus Christ to thousands of listeners 24 hours a day. In 1992, ownership of WBCL was transferred to Taylor University through a merger of the two educational institutions.

WBCL, a high-quality, professional station, received the National Religious Broadcasters "Station of the Year" award in 1986. With high Arbitron ratings in the Fort Wayne broadcast market, WBCL daily serves its listeners with local news, weather, and community happenings. Creative local programs include: a daily talk show, daily local news programs, music programs, and numerous special features. The best of nationally known speakers, such as Dr. James Dobson, Chuck Swindoll and Dr. Steve Brown are also favorites of the listening audience. WBCL is a listener-supported, not-for-profit station.

In 1992, WBCL began simulcasting on WBCY at 89.5 FM in Northwest Ohio. With tower and transmitter in Archbold, the quality Christian programming is simulcast from the Fort Wayne studios to an area that extends even into Michigan.

In 1997, WBCJ became a reality in West Central Ohio at 88.1 FM. With tower and transmitter in Spencerville, Ohio, the simulcast programming reaches Lima, Celina, Wapakoneta and St. Marys.

Also in 1997, a translator was installed atop the Radisson/Roberts Hotel building in downtown Muncie, Indiana where listeners can now hear WBCL at 106.1 FM.

The WBCL Radio Network reaches listeners worldwide with the Good News of Jesus Christ through the website at wbcl.org.
