On January 3rd, 2012, Ann Voskamp, author of the New York Times best selling book One Thousand Gifts, joined us on Mid-Morning to kick off our 2012 One Thousand Gifts Challenge.
(If you missed her interview, you can catch it here.)
Throughout 2012, Lynne and Bekah are committing to keep track of one thousand (and more!) gifts - and five of our listeners have committed to doing the same. They'll be checking in with us throughout the year to share what they're learning and how their lives are changing as a result of this challenge, but we'd love to hear from you, too! If you want to share what you're learning from the One Thousand Gifts Challenge, email us through the contact button on the Mid-Morning page and we'll list your thoughts here. Come back throughout the year to read what others are learning - and be encouraged!
I stand amazed this morning at God's orchestration in my life. I bought One Thousand Gifts last summer, but it got lost on the pile on my bed stand. THis weekend I dug it out and began to read. Yesterday I began to journal my gift list. And today I was blessed to hear your interview with Ann. I have been living a life of ingratitude. I am only in chapter 4, but my eyes have been opened and I am trying to slow down time and see God in everything. Your interview with Ann is number 21 on my list because it is BIG evidence that God is indeed showing His love in the details of my life. - Lori Hickman
So excited to hear your program with Ann Voskamp. I read this book last spring, and actually just started to reread it on New Year's Day...I plan to make 2012 a year of eucharisteo. We just got back from visiting my son and daughter-in-law, who pastor in Prattsville, NY. This small town was destroyed during the Hurricane Irene flood in the Catskills at the end of August. Their church and the parsonage survived, but are currently shells waiting to be restored...What a struggle it is to see God through this sort of disaster. I believe Romans 8:28, but it takes the discipline of really looking for God's blessings and graceful hand. - Martha Town
I try to find a difficult situation and look for the hidden gem - like the strength to open an annoying sticking door. Usually that door woudl drive me crazy. But because of this journey, I stopped and thought "This door drives me crazy, but the Lord has given me the strength to open it!" - Deborah Nelson
