Our Home Family Resource Center's "Poverty Simulation" 09/19/2017, 06:00 PM – 09:00 PM A "Poverty Simulation" will be held at the Grand Lake Galleria Conference Center at 909 Wayne St in Celina, OH on September 18 from 6:00 - 9:00pm. During this simulation, we will be “walking in the shoes” of someone living in poverty and experiencing what it might be like to live in a typical low-income family trying to survive month-to-month. In this workshop, we will encounter a full range of circumstances, obstacles, and challenges that our low income neighbors face. We will each be assigned a specific role and identity for the simulation. This identity will be based upon a real person living in poverty, and we will interact & engage with volunteers serving as business owners, employers, educators, police officers, agency workers, service providers, and government employees. This “Poverty Simulation” will be facilitated by West Ohio Food Bank and is intended to prompt us to think about the harsh realities of poverty and to talk about how individuals, agencies, businesses, and organizations can work together to affect positive outcomes for the residents of our communities! Event is FREE, but registration is required by September 12.
