Master Trooper Rich Remembered
A one-mile stretch of U.S. 24 in Wabash is now known as the “Master Trooper Detective David E. Rich Memorial Mile”. The mile was dedicated Wednesday to the memory Master Trooper Rich, who was shot and killed a year ago when he stopped to aid what he thought was a stranded motorist.
Kroger Recalls Beef
Kroger is expanding its voluntary recall
of some ground beef to its stores in more than 20 states. The
beef may be contaminated with salmonella. The recall involves
nearly 532,000 pounds of ground beef from one supplier.
Colombian Hostages Rescued
Three hostages
rescued from leftist guerillas in Colombia are back on American
soil. U.S. Ambassador William Brownfield says U.S. and Colombian
forces shared intelligence, equipment, training advice and
operational experience in Wednesday's daring rescue.
4th of July Closures Announced
In observance of the 4th of July holiday, city and county offices will be closed Friday. County offices will re-open Monday. The city is taking an extended weekend and will resume regular business hours on Tuesday. There will be no Citilink bus service Friday, including Access service.
Operation CARE Now in Force
Indiana State Police are stepping up patrols over the long holiday weekend as part of the nationwide Operation CARE. Additional troopers will be on Indiana’s highways and byways looking for speeders, impaired drivers and seat belt violators. Please drive carefully!
