Hurricane Earl Threatens East Coast
Hurricane Earl is barreling toward the
Eastern Seaboard, with whipping winds of 140 mph. Forecasters are
trying to pinpoint exactly how close the storm and its effects
will come to North Carolina's barrier islands. Most tourists have
evacuated from the Outer Banks.
Community Harvest Launches 5 Million Dollar Campaign
Community Harvest Food Bank has launched a five million dollar capital campaign with the goal of reducing hunger by 50 percent in five years. Campaign honorary co-chairs are Senator Richard Lugar and Parkview Health CEO Mike Packnett, who attended the campaign launch Wednesday evening.
New Hotel Opens, Goldstine Bridge Dedicated
The new Fort Wayne Courtyard by Marriott officially opened Wednesday with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Immediately following, the Embassy Theatre dedicated the Robert Goldstine Bridge above Harrison Street connecting the hotel and the theatre.
Obama Hosts Mideast Rivals
Israeli and Palestinian leaders meet face
to face in Washington today for the beginning of peace
discussions. President Barack Obama, who met separately with the
leaders yesterday, says he's "cautiously hopeful" about the
talks.
On Line Voter Registration Surges
More than 4,000 Indiana residents have gone online to register to vote or update registration information since the state started
offering the online service July 1.
